This technology introduces several enhancements compared to the traditional pen and paper method:

• Observation logging for unengaged individuals by Navigators
• Mapping of encampments with detailed data collection
• Follow-ups and alerts for required actions
• Data integration with HMIS for comprehensive homeless history profiles
• The Regional Command Center that receives Show the Way app data contains dashboards, maps, reports, and data tools for a collaborative street homelessness response within communities.

The homeless population often faces heightened vulnerability and substantial costs to communities through interactions with law enforcement, hospital visits, and emergency room usage. However, the lack of accurate data collection results in those preferring streets over shelters receiving lower priority in housing allocation tools.
